Fresh is best when it comes to garlic. A relative of the onion, shallot, and leek, garlic has earned its place as a pantry staple in homes around the world.
A cool thing about this little allium is it contains a little bit of almost all of the nutrients our body needs. Garlic has also been proven to improve gut and muscle health. According to Medical News Today, "the original Olympic athletes in Ancient Greece were given garlic" to improve their performance. Makes sense to us!
To keep your garlic fresh, you'll want to avoid light and moisture. Consider a dry, dark place when storing your garlic.
