The Barber family has been tending their land for 6 generations in the heart of the Schoharie Valley. Learning from experience has taught them how to build and maintain the natural systems within the soil, which gives their homegrown vegetables the incredible flavor that repeatedly draws customers from all over New York, as well as from Connecticut and New Jersey.
Some of the products that Barber’s Farm offers are hardy mums, ornamentals, crisp apples, sweet cider, potatoes, squash, and onions along with 50 different types of vegetables. U-Pick fields open in August.
Letterbox is a diversified organic farm in the heart of New York’s Hudson Valley. They grow vegetables, greens, herbs and flowers + raise chickens, pigs and rabbits for market and their full diet CSA. They also host place-based celebrations in their fields and love to research.
In 2014, Faith Gilbert founded Letterbox Farm, a growing collective of young farmers in Hudson, NY. From the team: “We are developing a diversified sustainable operation, producing super special vegetables, pastured poultry, pork, eggs and herbs.” Letterbox supplies to an array of restaurants and farmers markets in the Hudson Valley and New York City, and launched their first diversified CSA in Spring of 2015.
A certified organic farm located in Hillsdale, NY. Since 1988, Martin and Christa Stosiek have expanded the farm from a couple of acres to over 20 acres. They produce a diverse crop of vegetables, cut flowers, and bed plants. They are very well known for the exceptional quality of their salad mixes and greens. The Stosieks support the ideals of a local food system, and enjoy connecting with those who purchase their products. For them, farming is not just a job— it’s a way of life that is inextricably entwined with personal and family values.
They are ever grateful to be "sowing these seeds," and the rewards are many fold. Markristo Farm is a founding member of the CRAFT internship program and enjoys training and working with 2 to 3 interns annually (since 1995). Markristo also has CSA offerings, participates in the Great Barrington, Massachusetts Farmers Market, and has been working with Field Goods since the beginning. We love the Markristo Farm!
The Farm at Miller's Crossing
The Farm at Miller’s Crossing is a beautiful 200-acre farm located in the Hudson Valley of New York. The Agawamuck Creek divides the farm, providing water for the animals and plants that are raised there.
For their family-owned and operated business, Chris and Katie grow certified organic vegetables, plants and flowers; raise a small grass fed beef herd; and make maple syrup and maple products. The farm has 60 acres of vegetables within a 100-acre rotation, as well as 75 acres of pasture for their cows. Their greenhouse provides room to grow the farm’s transplants and bedding plants for sale.
